Hi and welcome back to The Hybrid Hacker!
In this fourth issue, we're starting with a warm, AI-generated image. Every time I release a new issue of the newsletter, I use AI to create an image to showcase it on social media. Inspired by the "Morfternight," an amazing newsletter by Paolo, but not being as great of a photographer as he is, I decided to open each new issue of the HH with an AI-generated image along with the prompt used to generate it. I believe it adds to the aesthetic of the newsletter and makes it a bit less ugly.
Moving on to our main topic, today we will delve into Generative AI predictions, invisibility, and longevity. You will also find some excellent resources on the Imposter Syndrome, a common issue affecting a majority of leaders. As always, you'll find useful tools, Git repositories, and a hands-on project.
So let’s start!

Invisibility Cloaks
An "invisibility cloak" refers to a hypothetical device that can make objects invisible to the human eye. This concept has been popularized in science fiction and is based on the idea of manipulating light to hide an object from view. However, at present, there is no technology available that can create a true invisibility cloak. Scientists are working on developing materials that can bend light in ways that make objects appear invisible and while this is still a long way from becoming a reality, we could be not so far.

Project Blueprint
Bryan Johnson, a 45-year-old biotech entrepreneur, is undergoing an experimental program called Project Blueprint to reverse the effects of aging. The program is led by a 29-year-old physician, Oliver Zolman, and supported by over 30 health experts. It consists of a daily regimen of supplements, vegan meals, exercise, and regular bodily tests. Johnson has spent up to $2 million on the program and has reported an epigenetic age reversal of 5.1 years.

About the Impostor Syndrome
What is Impostor Syndrome? Impostor syndrome is a psychological phenomenon in which individuals doubt their abilities, accomplishments, and success, despite evidence of their competence. In easy words, it’s when you feel like a fake or a fraud even though you are really good at something.
In my career, I've been impacted by Impostor Syndrome many times, and I've seen many others affected by it as well.
This feeling is particularly common when taking on a management or leadership role, especially in the realm of technical leadership. Often, individuals who have previously worked as hands-on engineers are asked to step up as team leaders, where hands-on work is reduced. However, even though technical leads play a crucial role, those transitioning from hands-on roles may feel like they are "cheating" because their work is less tangible. And this is where Impostor Syndrome steps in.
Here are couple of interesting resources I collected for you on Impostor Syndrome:
If you find that you are affected by this syndrome, don't worry too much, tho’. A study conducted by MIT found that people who experience this phenomenon, often excel at teamwork, cooperation, and socializing.

HA Kuberentes Cluster on Hetzner for ~$50
If you follow me, you know that I’m literally in love with Kubernetes. I first started using it when it was at version 0.8 and have never looked back. I use it both at work and for personal projects.
Recently, I had to move my home-lab setup to the cloud due to increasing electricity costs. I tried various Managed Kubernetes hosting solutions from AWS, GCP, and DigitalOcean, but they either didn't meet my requirements or were too expensive. So, I decided to rent some cloud servers and eventually chose Hetzner as my cloud provider. However, I needed to find a way to manage Kubernetes effectively without excessive overhead.
That's when I discovered terraform-hcloud-kube-hetzner, a Terraform provider that interacts directly with Hetzner to bootstrap Kubernetes clusters. In just 5 minutes, I had an HA Kubernetes cluster with 6 nodes (3x CX21 and 3x CX31) up and running.
If you're interested in experimenting with Kubernetes, I highly recommend giving Hetzner and this Terraform provider a try. And, if you use this referral code, you'll get 20€ in credit to use on Hetzner Cloud.
If you need any help, feel free to reach out to me, and I'll do my best to help you.
