Really solid curation here. That point abuot bad code being a systemic problem rather than a talent gap is spot on. Most orgs incentivize launch velocity over long-term maintainabilty, so engineers adapt. Once thats baked into promo criteria, even the best folks start optimizng for what gets rewarded, not whats sustainable.
