My first advice would be to grow your personal network, e.g. through writing more online, and nurturing your existing relationships. Personal network is a fantastic way to kickstart distribution for many ideas: if you are building something to solve a problem of yours, chances are you know other people who have the same problem.
Also, you can never go wrong with improving your network and relationships, even if it's not about distribution.
Other skills are situational and depend on your product, but having a basic grasp of paid ads and SEO is also very useful (and underrated among engineers if you ask me).
What a great guiding post. Thanks Luca. I feel well prepared to build an idea and have some ideas on the table and this post guided on where to start my thinking to identify if I can run a startup. Lot to think now.
Great article! Thank you for sharing your experience.
As a tech-oriented person, how would you advise growing in the Distribution skills so that one can build their businesses as a single founder?
